What my mom has been for me, nobody could have been for me ever. Mommy, you are the first ray of sunshine I see everyday and that last gleam of moonlight I see at night. This is what you have done for me...
I WALK AHEAD OF YOU DEAR ONE
SO YOU COULD WATCH YOUR WAY
FROM TRAPS AND PITS THAT MARK THE PATH
YOU CAN THUS STAY AWAY
I FOLLOW YOU WITH EYES LIKE A HAWK
WATCHING YOUR STEP AND MOVE
GUARDING YOUR INNOCENCE WITH MY RULES
STEERING YOU TO IMPROVE
I PESTER YOU WITH TASKS GALORE
MORE OFTEN JUST TO TRAIN
THOUGH I KNOW WELL YOU RATHER TAKE
THEM ALL AS SUCH A PAIN
I CHIDE YOU HARD WHEN YOU DISPLAY
SOME UTTERLY FOOLISH ACT
AND PRAISE YOU LOUD WHEN YOU HAVE MADE
SOME REMARKABLE IMPACT
THERE’S SO MUCH I COULD GIVE TO YOU
WITH CARE TO MAKE YOU STRONG
IN CHARACTER TO STAND OUT TALL
JUST RIGHT AGAINST ALL WRONG
IF YOU COULD ONLY BE SO WISE
TO LEARN ALL I COULD TEACH
YOUR FUTURE SHOULD GLOW LIKE A STAR
THE SKY WOULD BE AT REACH
MY ENDEAVOR TO MAKE YOU SHINE
WILL DULY TAKE ITS COURSE
AND EACH EFFORT I MAKE TO TEACH
REMAINS UNCONDITIONALLY YOURS .
This is really beautiful Mia... I didn't know you wrote poems as well...:)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could write poems... Have tried without much success. About this-- mothers always tend to be the first inspirations, right? My first ever writing in English was about a mother and daughter too...
ReplyDeleteHarsha, thanks a ton for commenting :D It means a lot to me that my friends like my work...And yes, mothers are always the best inspiration...
